What does a session look like?
Movement Challenge
Each session begins with a fun and engaging movement challenge. Children have the option to participate in a quick self-challenge focusing on mobility or strength. Participation is voluntary, allowing kids to either join in or enter the space slowly.
Warm-Up
We set up our warm ups to be designed to increase heart rate but also develop greater coordination. Techniques such as skipping backwards, bear crawls, long jumps, and overall coordination patterns are developed here!
Strength Session
The core of our session includes teaching basic strength patterns such as squatting, pushing, pulling, and hinging. We also incorporate gymnastic patterns like jumping, tumbling, and calisthenics to build overall physical strength and coordination.
Game Time
To build community and foster social interaction, we dedicate time to a group game. This activity not only promotes teamwork but also adds an element of fun to our session.
Mobility and Rehab Session
Here we focus on explaining concepts around stretching and how children can learn how to become more flexible. We also show soft techniques in rehab such as foam rolling and myofascial techniques. We want children to understand how to take care of their body.
Positive Mindset Session
Each session concludes with a 10-minute segment focused on positive mindset and emotional wellness. We discuss the importance of a growth mindset and strategies for emotional regulation to help children develop resilience and a positive outlook.
This schedule is designed to offer a balanced mix of structured activities, free play, arts and crafts, ensuring that each child has a fulfilling and enjoyable experience at PhysioKids Summer Camp.
